Health & Well-being Grants

These grants are available for health and well-being related initiatives that benefit Waikato-Tainui tribal members. Grants may be used for activities such as:

  • Cardio-vascular health
  • Group first aid courses
  • Health and safety courses (including water)
  • Smoking cessation
  • Diabetes awareness
  • Breast screening
  • Prevention of ear infections and glue ear
  • Promotion of immunisation
  • Nutritional education
  • Oral health education for pre-schoolers
  • Access to car seat/restraint and seat belt education
  • Meningitis awareness
  • Child, youth and kaumaatua programmes

Kaumaatua Grants (Medical)

Grants of up to $500 per 12 month period or more are available to kaumaatua aged 60 and over to assist with certain medical and health and wellbeing purposes. Expenses that can be reimbursed through a Kaumaatua Grant are:

  • Family GP fees and prescription charges
  • Optometry e.g. spectacles
  • Audiology e.g. hearing aids
  • Dental expenses

Please note only one grant per 12 month period is allowed.
